One of the main things to keep in mind about Polio is that according to the CDC; 95% show no symptoms. (1, 2, 3) The CDC has since removed that data. Documents stated specifically that 95% of polio cases are asymptomatic & they changed it a few years ago to 75% during California's SB277. The symptomatic cases usually produce flu-like symptoms (non-paralytic polio). These cases generally make a full recovery & result in lifetime immunity. The most serious form of infection is paralytic polio. It occurs in 0.1-2% of infections. Paralysis is usually temporary, but in extreme cases, permanent paralysis & death may occur.

Most Recent Polio Cases and Numbers:
Polio Symptoms:
Since the CDC removed the above data about asymptomatic cases being 95% and changed it to 75%, there’s some inconsistency in the numbers… either way, the chances of severe symptoms are at the worst, 1%. Either way, most cases are asymptomatic...meaning you have no symptoms.
The asymptomatic viral replication is limited to the alimentary tract. However, following an incubation period of approximately 7–10 days (range, 4–35 days), about 24% of those infected develop clinical signs such as fever, headache, and sore throat (considered a minor illness). According to the WHO (World Health Organization) “Paralytic poliomyelitis, experienced in <1% of poliovirus infections, occurs when the virus enters the central nervous system and replicates in anterior horn cells (motor neurons) of the spinal cord.”

So the facts:
Polio History:
A little factual history, because most people don't realize the true history of Polio. We all just think of paralyzed children with iron lungs who later died. The Merck manual says that more than 90% of polio cases simply resembled the stomach flu, another 5% had abortive polio which included a sore throat, and another 3% had non-paralytic polio which includes some limb weakness and numbness. This 98% of people infected with polio had a complete recovery (and have lifelong immunity) and the symptoms resolved within 10-14 days. About 2% (slightly less) had paralytic polio. Of this 2% it is divided into 3 subcategories, but among the 3 more than 50% had a complete recovery rate, and in the other 50% some had a longer recovery and some did not fully recover - having some paralysis and some died. Of that 2%, 2% had bulbar polio, which was the horrific kind shown on TV (that is less than .04% of the people that contracted polio).
It’s important to look at the number of reported cases of poliomyelitis during the late-1930s and early-1940s. During 1933-1937, there were a total of 37,463 cases (4,930 deaths), followed by 31,993 cases (4,165 deaths) in 1938-1942, 12,449 cases (1,115 deaths) in 1943, 19,029 cases (1,433 deaths) in 1944, and 13,619 cases (1,189 deaths) in 1945. In 1946, Harry Truman declared a war on Polio. The US started spraying DDT- the goal was to exterminate mosquitoes, which were believed to be spreading polio. As the DDT campaign proceeded, the incidence of polio began to sharply rise in the U.S. The number of reported cases of polio in the country in 1946 hit 25,191—nearly twice the number in the previous year.1 In 1947, the number of cases dropped to 10,737 (580 deaths) but then rose again to 27,680 (2,140 deaths) in 1948. The International Journal of Medical Ethics states, "It was hoped that following polio eradication, immunization could be stopped. However, the synthesis of the polio virus in 2002, made eradication impossible. It is argued that getting poor countries to expend their scarce resources on an impossible dream over the last 10 years was unethical. Furthermore, while India has been polio-free for a year, there has been a huge increase in non-polio acute flaccid paralysis (NPAFP). In 2011, there were an extra 47,500 new cases of NPAFP. Clinically indistinguishable from polio paralysis but twice as deadly, the incidence of NPAFP was directly proportional to doses of oral polio received."
Decline of Polio:
One would question if polio has disappeared. What caused the decline of it wasn’t vaccines? In a study from Columbia University, the conclusion reads, “Medical measures have contributed little to the decline in mortality in the US since about 1900 - having in many instances been introduced several decades after a marked decline had already set in and having no detectable influence in most cases.” Regarding flu, pneumonia, polio, whooping cough, and diphtheria, it’s estimated that at most 3.5 percent of the total decline could be attributed to medical measures. Charts show a decline from the peak of polio in 1954, before vaccine trials began on April 12, 1955. After the vaccine trials started, an increase in Polio cases was reported in Vermont (up 266%), Rhode Island (up 454%) and Massachusetts (up 643%). Idaho and Utah even banned the vaccine because before the vaccine trials there had never been a case reported in those states and once they started vaccinating, people were getting infected.
In June of 1955, just weeks after massive vaccination started, 2 of 8 lots of vaccines were administered which released live virus, infecting 40,000 people with polio, 164 were permanently paralyzed and 10 died." All about the Vaccine:
The first polio vaccine was worked on by Dr. Jonas Salk & human experiments using this vaccine were conducted purposely on orphans in government/church-run institutions because they were vulnerable & didn't require any parental consent signatures, as they had no parents. The vaccine was "declared safe" by "medicine" (as they always are even though that vaccine was killing & paralyzing monkeys in test trials) & that vaccine gave 40,000 orphans polio, permanently paralyzed hundreds & killed at least 10 children. All injuries & deaths under reported of course by the same authorities who orchestrated the atrocity. This was called The Cutter Incident. (See more info below)

The polio epidemic is very interesting once you take the time to really investigate the timeline of events and other likely factors behind the spike in polio cases. So many theories on this. Here’s a few for you to explore:
Polio is also spread via the fecal-oral route (i.e., the virus is transmitted from the poop of an infected person to the mouth of another person from contaminated hands or such objects as eating utensils.) Source: (23) CDC
In case you didn't know, vaccines were (and are) spreading polio. "On September 24, 1976, the Washington Post reported Dr. Salk's assertion that the Sabin live oral virus vaccine had been the "principal if not sole cause" of every reported polio case in the United States since 1961. Salk repeated this accusation on July 6, 1977, when he was interviewed on CBC television, saying: "We have known now since 1961 in the United States, and prior to that in other countries, that the live virus vaccine for polio does cause the disease itself." This is where he said that in 1977 on television. Proof."
The chances of getting polio worldwide are over 1 in 19 million according to data from 2014. Most cases are asymptomatic, meaning you have no symptoms.

Poliomyelitis belongs to the family of enterovirus, which is common. Acute flaccid paralysis, transverse myelitis, Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), and myasthenia gravis are just some of the labels given to people with sudden weakness (to name a couple.) The latter of which is a common & devastating side-effect listed in vaccine inserts & often compensated in vaccine court. Over the last sixty years in the U.S., more than a million cases of what would have been diagnosed as polio pre-vaccine – same symptoms – were given different labels. The Journal of Pediatrics confirms stories about the renaming of polio that says even though GBS (Guillain Bar Syndrome) clusters happened with OPV, there’s not a strong enough link to create causation: Prior to the introduction of the polio vaccine, polio was not diagnosed as it is today. In the 50s and 60s, reports of polio were recorded as polio, without the testing that began to be required after the vaccine was introduced. 95% of polio cases are not associated with paralysis, and in most cases of polio, only temporary paralysis is experienced. After the vaccine, cases were not recorded as polio unless paralysis was in two or more limbs and lasted for longer than 60 days. This alone was huge in the "disappearance" of polio after the vaccine was introduced. The graph is from the Ratner report, the transcript of a 1960 panel sponsored by the Illinois Medical Society, on which sat three PhD statisticians and an MD, met to discuss the problems with the ongoing polio vaccination campaign. And, critically, before the vaccine was licensed polio diagnoses were made clinically and accepted from around the nation, duly reported to the American public annually as polio, no lab analysis required, while after it was licensed only the CDC was – and is – allowed to issue confirmations of paralytic polio – all suspected cases had to be sent to them for analysis and testing. Remember Roosevelt? A group of researchers published a case study in the Journal of Medical Biography arguing that he may not have had polio but Guillain-Barré syndrome instead. “No one can be absolutely sure of the cause of Roosevelt's paralysis because relevant laboratory diagnostic tests were not available at the time of his illness," said Armond Goldman, professor emeritus of medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. "But a retrospective analysis favours the diagnosis of GBS," The Global Mail.
Prior to 1954, the following undoubtedly hid behind the name “poliomyelitis”: Transverse Myelitis, viral or “aseptic” meningitis, Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS)- (what Franklin Delano Roosevelt had), Chinese Paralytic syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, epidemic cholera, cholera morbus, spinal meningitis, spinal apoplexy, inhibitory palsy, intermittent fever, famine fever, worm fever, bilious remittent fever, ergotism, post-polio syndrome, acute flaccid paralysis(AFP). Searching the government database at pubmed.gov reveals over 5000 articles with the terms “vaccine” and “myelitis.”
The oral polio vaccine is a known cause of acute flaccid paralysis. After 40 years of causing thousands of cases of polio from the vaccine, the CDC removed the oral vaccine from it’s US schedule. The United States moved to the inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) in 2000, after the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended altogether eliminating the live-virus oral polio vaccine. Sadly, millions around the world are still given the oral polio vaccine. A child who may have never had symptoms from the wild polio virus, (like the 95% who don’t according to the CDC) is now stricken with paralysis from a man-made vaccine.
This study shows those vaccinated are able to spread polio. For 2 months polio was running through their community, via VDPV, and only 1 child, immunocompromised, had any issue! Polio is not the "killer/iron lung-er it's portrayed to be. 95% of polio who contract polio never even know they have it. Source: (41) PubMed Polio Shedding
